1) Quantum LP52S and LP105S should not have Minimum Prefetch (Page 8) set to any value other than ZERO or else random crashes could occur. This is due to a Quantum firmware bug.
2) Quantum Q250/Q280 drives should have DELDIS enabled or else transfer errors can occur.
3) Some Conner and Rodime drives need small maxchunk values and may need operate with Blind transfers disabled. These should not be changed in Configure Driver.
4) Seagate drives should not have the WCE bit in Page 8 enabled or else hangs can occur.
5) Insite I325VM and IOMEGA Io20S must be used with the HDT Extension. Failure to do so will prevent writing and formatting of floptical disks.
6) When using drives on Macintoshes with 3rd party accelerators, blind data transfers may not function correctly. You should use HDT Primer's Configure Driver TEST button to test the current settings for data transfer loops before continuing, when in doubt, turn off blind data transfers in Configure Driver. If Configure Driver’s Test hangs, the drive should be operated with blinds off. (This happens a lot on the Macintosh Plus because the SCSI hardware does not support handshaking.)
7) When connecting a drive that had not been used with a Mac, make sure the following settings are correct if available: Parity off, Synchronous negotiation off, Wait spin off, Unit Attention disabled, Spindle sync disabled, terminator power supplied by the drive to the SCSI bus.
8) Generically supported drives default to non-blind data transfers and 255 maxchunk for safety reasons. Use Configure Driver's Test to see if Blind data transfers function properly.
9) Micropolis 2210AV and 2217AV drives have known firmware quirks if their revisions are VX08 or earlier. The quirks will cause erratic drive operation under certain circumstances. Updated firmware will be available at the end of March 1994, contact your supplier or Micropolis at 818-709-3300 for details.
